A considered specification. / Real Fyre
Measure the fireplace. Keep the details.
A 24-inch log set does not fit every 24-inch opening. Burner controls, the shape of the firebox and model clearances change the space needed. These measurements start the review.
Reference sketch. Measure your actual fireplace.
Bring four measurements
Record the inside space, in inches.
- A / Front width
- The clear inside width at the front of the firebox.
- B / Rear width
- The width across the back. A taper can limit the usable set size.
- C / Depth
- The distance from the front opening to the rear wall.
- D / Opening height
- The clear height at the fireplace opening.
Photograph the identifying details.
Take a straight-on photograph of the whole fireplace, a view inside the firebox and a clear photograph of any manufacturer or rating plate. Include the existing log and burner labels if this is a replacement.
Tell the team whether the fuel is natural gas or propane. A gas connection in the firebox is useful information; it does not confirm the gas pressure or supply capacity for a new appliance.
Leave room for the control assembly.
Different burners, pilot assemblies and remote controls can need different minimum widths even with the same nominal log size. A decorative screen, glass doors, a sloping back wall or an existing grate can also affect the usable space.
Compare the measurements with the exact component instructions. There is no single extra-width allowance that safely applies to every Real Fyre configuration.
Vented choices need a venting review.
A suitable chimney, flue condition and the permanent venting provisions in the appliance instructions are part of the job. Fireplace dimensions alone cannot confirm draft or chimney condition.
Do not close a damper above an operating vented appliance. The specific installation instructions determine the required provisions.
Vent-free choices need a room review.
The fireplace listing, combustion air, room conditions, clearances and local rules must allow the exact vent-free appliance. The appliance's safety devices do not remove those requirements.
Keep the selection as a request until the team has reviewed the home and the manufacturer's instructions. The product price does not include that review or installation unless a written quote says it does.
Record for the fit review
Show the gas connection position
Include a photograph that shows where the gas stub enters the firebox: left, right, rear or another location. Keep the whole firebox in the photograph so the team can relate the connection to the proposed burner. Use only a view that is safely accessible; do not remove, loosen or move gas fittings to obtain it.

Record how far the stub projects
If the connection is safely visible, photograph or record how far the gas stub projects into the firebox. The manufacturer includes that projection in its measuring checklist because the connection occupies usable space. A photograph is enough to start the discussion; the installer can verify the measurement. Do not move the line or disconnect a fitting to make it easier to measure.

Include the height above the firebox floor
Show the distance between the gas stub and the firebox floor, alongside the front width, rear width, depth and opening height. The floor reference helps the team review the burner and connector arrangement. If this cannot be seen or measured without reaching around equipment, send the available photograph and let the installer complete the measurement.

Choose a collection and send the exact paired components with your project address. The team can then start with the actual model references.
